Our Journey
Our history
Years of Journey
The African Cancer Center (ACC) was founded on a bold mission to provide high-quality cancer care, research, and training to Nigeria and West Africa. The journey began in July 2005, when Professor Olufemi Williams, an internationally recognized cancer researcher and advocate, approached then-Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, with a vision to create a dedicated cancer center in Nigeria. This vision was embraced, leading to the allocation of a 5.023-hectare plot of land in Okorisan, Epe, Lagos State, where our center now stands as a beacon of hope.
After formal incorporation in Texas in 2006, the African Cancer Center was officially registered in Nigeria in 2013, cementing its commitment to reducing the impact of cancer across Africa. With invaluable support from Mr. Akintola Williams and Mrs. Oye Williams, ACC’s mission is rooted in addressing Africa’s urgent need for accessible cancer care.
